This one-hour webinar will review mandated child abuse and neglect reporting requirements in California, including:

  • who is a mandated reporter (included recent additions to the list)
  • what is reportable as child abuse and neglect
  • when must the report be made
  • how is the report made
  • why reporters must also be mindful of federal and state confidentiality rules 

The Mathews v. Beccera CA Supreme Court opinion will be reviewed and it implications for reports of online child pornography viewing and sexting amongst teens, and FAQ's from healthcare providers will be addressed, including questions as to the definition of neglect, for example, non-attendance in online schooling during COVID-19, parental drug use, failure to observe social distancing/mask wearing, and other parenting "gray areas."
