Course description:

Workers’ Compensation for Supervisors covers: “Why we have Workers’ Compensation”, the benefits it provides injured workers, explanation of the exclusive remedy, and the employer’s requirements for administering Workers’ Compensation claims. Loss reduction methods are covered: implementing medical controls, return to work programs, and strategies for managing W/C claims. Key actions are reviewed: reaching maximum medical improvement, supplemental job displacement benefits, claims monitoring, and assisting the injured worker in their healing process so the claim can be closed.

 

The course consists of:

• 1 Zoom guided discussion -- 1 hour 30 minutes each
• Homework assignment
• End-of-course exam

Certification requirements:

• The homework assignment must be completed and turned in to the instructor.
• Students must pass the end-of-course exam.
• Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate of completion.
• Students who successfully complete all 5 SMC courses are eligible to take the final Certification Exam. The Certification Exam is a comprehensive exam that measures the students’ knowledge of the learning objectives from all five courses.
