Under SB 848, districts should ensure that volunteers required to complete mandated reporter training do so within 6 weeks of beginning volunteer service and annually thereafter. The requirement applies to volunteers who are 18 years of age or older and who interact with pupils outside the immediate supervision and control of the pupil's parent or guardian or a school employee.
To help districts meet this requirement, Vector Solutions has created a Volunteer Self-Registration Portal that allows volunteers to:
- Self-register for training
- Complete the Mandated Reporter Training course online
- Receive a certificate of completion upon successfully finishing the course
The portal eliminates the need for districts to create individual user accounts for volunteers, making it easier to administer the required training and document course completion.
