Reminder: Reporting Alternative Mandated Reporter Training
California law requires all school employees to receive annual training on the identification and reporting of child abuse and neglect. Under Education Code Section 44691(c), any local educational agencies (LEAs) that does not use the online training module provided by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) must report the alternative training being used to the California Department of Education (CDE).

To support this requirement, CDE has provided the “Reporting on Alternative Training Provided for Mandatory Reporters” form. Districts can use this form to document and submit details about their chosen training. Completed forms can be submitted by mail or email to the addresses listed on the document.

For questions about alternative training options or help with the form, contact Scarlett Sadler.

Recognizing and safely managing lithium-ion battery powered tools is essential to protect staff, equipment, and school property.
