Wildfires continue to pose a serious and growing threat across California, with devastating impacts on communities, businesses, and public agencies. The increasing frequency and intensity of these events make preparation more important than ever.
Our new Risk Simplified on Fire Hardening Public Facilities highlights key strategies to help public agencies strengthen their defenses and reduce the risk of damage. From creating defensible space and ember protection to maintaining access routes and using fire-resistant materials, these strategies can support continuity of services and protect valuable resources. |
As the warmer weather quickly approaches, public agencies across California are urged to prioritize protecting both outdoor and indoor workers from heat illness. Public agencies must protect employees working in indoor and/or outdoor environments, as required by Cal/OSHA's Heat Illness Prevention in Outdoor Places of Employment, Title 8 CCR, Section 3395 and Cal/OSHA's Heat Illness Prevention of Indoor Places of Employment, Title 8 CCR, Section 3396. It is crucial for workers to undergo heat illness training before starting work in hot conditions. Partner Program Spotlight |
PRISM has partnered with Plexus Global to provide background check services.
Employers have a duty to ensure prospective employees will not pose a risk to the public, other agency employees, or the agency. Comprehensive background checks are a necessary and important pre-employment best practice that will help members meet this obligation.
Using a consumer reporting agency, like Plexus Global, to conduct background checks ensures compliance with requirements for safeguarding the confidentiality of information obtained. Limiting employees’ involvement reduces the member’s exposure and maintains the confidentiality of the information obtained in the background check process.
