Get Ready for Mandated Reporter Training

Along with the excitement of staff and students returning to campus, school districts must also ensure employee training is completed.  AB 1432 requires school districts to train their mandated reporters within the first six (6) weeks of each school year, the first six (6) weeks of employment, and annually thereafter.

Our online training partner, Vector Solutions, offers “Child Abuse: Mandated Reporter Training for California (EDU)”, a California specific course for school districts to meet this training need. For questions about this training or getting set up with Vector Solutions, please contact Risk Control.

Onboarding New Employees
The weeks leading up to the beginning of the school year can be a challenging time for schools facing difficulty finding qualified applicants to fill vacancies. Due to staffing shortages, some districts might consider foregoing the essential applicant screening steps to bring seemingly qualified candidates on board faster. However, skipping any step in the applicant screening process could potentially place school districts at risk.

Before an applicant moves from candidate to employee, school districts should ensure they meet the requirements outlined in an appropriate, conditional job offer. For more information on Recruiting and Onboarding, check out our blog.
