Education Connection September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month In 2016, Governor Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill (AB) 2246, chaptered as California Education Code (EDC) section 215. The section mandated that local educational agencies serving pupils of grades 7 to 12 adopt a policy on pupil suicide prevention. TargetSolutions Updates Mandated Reporter Course  AB 1432, signed in 2015, requires school districts, county offices of education,  charter schools, and other specified state run agencies to annually train employees who are classified as mandated reporters on the responsibilities of a mandated reporter. This mandated reporter training must be provided employees within the first 6 weeks of the school year or within the first 6 weeks of that person’s employment. TargetSolutions has created a new mandated reporter course just for California which includes new, more relevant case studies and examples.
