Note: The salary listed is under review and if approved by District Board of Directors, will be effective January, 2021. Under general direction, plans, organizes, and implements the objectives, and administrative and operational activities of the risk management and occupational health and safety programs and activities, including workers' compensation, insurance and self-insurance, and health, safety, and compliance programs within the Risk Management Department; develops program standards; supervises and evaluates program and operational staff; ensures program compliance with regulatory agency and Park District requirements; and performs other related duties as required.
The Risk and Safety Manager, working with a dedicated staff and under the direction of District Counsel, will oversee all aspects of the District's workers' compensation, safety and insurance programs. One key objective for 2021 is working with an outside safety consultant to perform a safety gap analysis and update the District's Safety Manual.
The District currently has one vacancy located at the District administrative office in Oakland, California. The hiring pools established as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancy and additional vacancies that may occur during the one-year life of the hiring pools. We Are Looking for Someone Who Is a people person, enjoys a challenge, is collaborative, flexible and a problem-solver. Supervisory experience, practical decision-making, and the ability to multitask are musts. Labor/management experience is desirable.

Education: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in risk management, business or public administration, occupational safety or a related field;
AND
Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible experience in the administration of a comprehensive risk management, loss control, industrial hygiene, or occupational health and safety program, including two years in a supervisory capacity.
Substitution: A master's degree from an accredited college or university in risk management, business or public administration, occupational safety, or a closely related field may substitute for one year of the required non-supervisory experience.
