Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Smartphone App

November 2nd, 2012

With the recent storm related activity on the East Coast of the United States we should all take pause to evaluate our own state of emergency preparedness.  It is that preparedness effort that may make the difference in our own individual ability to survive and/or assist others in the event of disaster. FEMA has sponsored a smartphone application that may help you upgrade your state of preparedness as well as obtain emergency information during or after a disaster event.

The FEMA Application (smartphone app for mobile devices) contains disaster safety tips, interactive lists for storing your emergency kit and emergency meeting location information, and a map showing open shelters and open FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs). The app is free to download through your smartphone provider’s app store and is available for the following phone platforms:

• Android devices
• Apple devices
• Blackberry devices

To find the app simply go to your phone’s App Store and type enter FEMA into the Search box and conduct a search.  The FEMA application should appear for you to review and download.
