They can be the conduit to effectively communicate matters relating to occupational safety and health to district employees. For additional information on establishing a safety committee or the Injury and Illness Prevention Program communication requirements, check out A Guide to Safety Committees. Emergency Action Plan and Automated External Defibrillator Review
You may have heard about the cardiac arrest incident that recently occurred in the NFL. Damar Hamlin's injury reminds us of the importance of ready access to automated external defibrillators (AEDs) on athletic fields. AB 2009, signed in 2018, requires school districts with interscholastic athletic programs to have an emergency action plan and an AED at every school within the district. It is recommended that districts periodically review their emergency action plans for program effectiveness. School districts are also required to inspect and maintain AEDs on campus. For more information on AB 2009 or AED maintenance requirements, please take a look at our Risk Simplified or contact Risk Control.
