Advocacy

Committed to Advocacy for the Benefit Our Membership

Since 2006, PRISM members have worked to establish a proactive presence with the California Legislature. PRISM’s Legislative Committee was developed with the objective to actively participate in the legislative process relative to workers’ compensation, liability, employee health benefits, and workplace standards and safety. The Committee meets routinely to review bills and status and proposes amending, supporting or opposing legislation and regulations for the benefit of the membership.

Legislative Platform

The Legislative platform is intended to broadly identify positions of general agreement on issues of interest to PRISM that may become the subject of legislation or regulation. PRISM Staff or Lobbyist, under the direction of the Legislative Committee, may submit letters of support/opposition and/or undertake other tasks, either individually or in concert with other Public Entity groups, on proposed legislation and regulation that is consistent with the areas identified in this platform.

PRISM contracts with Jason Schmelzer at Shaw, Yoder, Antwih, Schmelzer & Lange for legislative advocacy services.

By partnering with other public entity organizations (listed below), PRISM has gained a better ability to influence and promulgate legislative and regulatory changes.
