Medicare Secondary Payer Enforcement: What to Watch for in 2025 - Premiers On-Demand December 12, 2024 - No Registration Needed
Presented by: Terry M. Butrym, JD (PRISM Liability Claims Manager) & Heather Sanderson, Esq., MSPA, Sanderson Firm PLLC
Medicare is increasingly enforcing Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) initiatives. Medicare will be beginning to audit liability, workers’ compensation, and no-fault insurance payers in 2025 and will be issuing significant penalties of up to $1000 per day/per claim for untimely reporting of Medicare beneficiary claims and settlements. Additionally, starting in April of 2025, Medicare Set-Aside (MSA) information will be a mandatory reporting requirement for all workers’ compensation Medicare beneficiary settlements over $750. Lastly, Medicare Advantage Plans continue to be granted with a double damages right of penalties against primary insurance payers that fail to timely reimburse Medicare conditional payment liens made by the Medicare Advantage Plans. The webinar will discuss these new compliance initiatives, as well as provide best-practice takeaways to ensure MSP compliance.
