Burnout and Compassion Fatigue
Overview
This 2-hour webinar, presented by Tiffany Ross, LCSW, of The Counseling Team International (TCTI), is designed to increase awareness of burnout, compassion fatigue, and post-traumatic stress among first responders and public safety professionals. Participants will explore the causes and signs of occupational stress, burnout, and secondary trauma, along with the impact of these experiences on personal well-being and workplace performance.
The session introduces practical, evidence-based strategies for prevention, early recognition, and effective coping, helping participants strengthen resilience and support long-term wellness in both their personal and professional lives.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
• Define burnout, compassion fatigue, and secondary traumatic stress.
• Recognize common signs and symptoms of burnout and compassion fatigue in themselves and others.
• Identify practical, evidence-based strategies to manage stress and improve overall well-being.
• Develop a personalized starting point for a self-care and wellness plan.
While this course is specifically designed for first responders and public safety professionals, any public sector employee who experiences burnout or compassion fatigue will find this presentation beneficial.
