Frequently Asked Questions

How are individuals appointed to the various committees?

This year, at their December 2025 meeting the Executive Committee will appoint individuals from the pool of interested people for all open positions on the various committees. The Governance Sub-Committee will be reviewing the list of candidates along with Committee Chairs, and will be making recommendations to the Executive Committee. For most committees, terms have been established so that half the committee seats expire each December 31st.

Can an individual serve on more than one committee?

Yes, there is no limit to the number of committees in which a person can serve.

Who at my entity can be appointed to committees?

In most cases, there are no restrictions to who can serve on a committee. Appointments are made to the various committees from the pool of candidates based on the individual’s background and expertise. For program committees, participation in the applicable program is generally required.

For JPA members, can someone from the JPA’s membership serve on committees?

Absolutely. Committee participation is not in any way limited to a single individual representing the pool. PRISM encourages JPAs to solicit interest from amongst their membership.

What are the lengths of the committee terms?

Depending on the position, there are 1-year and 2-year terms. Each Committee page has descriptions of the various positions available (see links above).

Can an individual serve for more than one term?

Yes. As part of making appointments, the Executive Committee attempts to balance the benefits of experience on a committee with the value of getting new individuals involved in PRISM at the committee level.
