About The Position

Under general direction of the Supervising Senior Accountant, the Accountant will be responsible for all accounting functions of PRISM. The Accountant position requires broad accounting experience within all facets of accounting including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger and internal and external financial reporting. The Accountant will participate in the preparation and monitoring of the Authority's budget and financial statements; participate in the Authority's treasury functions and investments; assist with the development and maintenance of the Authority’s system of internal controls and fiscal policies; assist the HR Manager with payroll; as well as related duties as required. Some travel may be required.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Governmental Accounting Standards Board pronouncements, principles of internal accounting and control procedures, and principles of business administration and public finance. They will have the ability to research, collect, analyze, and audit information and data related to business, financial, and/or accounting matters; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with various sized groups; and establish and maintain effective working relationships and good public relations with employees, agencies, members, and the general public.

The ideal candidate will also have at least three years of increasing responsible work experience in accounting and business administration. A Bachelor’s Degree is desired, but not required.

Physical Requirements

Physical requirements of this position typically include: sitting for long periods of time, reaching, grasping, kneeling, talking, hearing, seeing, repetitive motions, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move.

Special Requirements

Possession of a valid State of California Driver’s License issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, or the ability to obtain one within the first month of employment. Proof of auto insurance with no exclusion for business use is required.
