About This Position

The Software Architect’s primary responsibilities will include development of new enterprise level software systems and support of existing systems and platforms.

This role will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing software solutions to address complex business issues, and providing technical leadership within the IT department. The ideal applicant will able to thrive in a highly collaborative workplace and actively engage in the development process. When applicable, all new development initiatives will be done using the OutSystems, low-code platform. These development initiatives may be accomplished by collaborating with contracted developers or a System Integrator. This position will have a lead role working with internal staff on all aspects of software development projects. This role will have primary responsibility to design and architect systems using best practices.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Computer Science Degree or related completed coursework and have five plus years of increasingly responsible experience with developing enterprise level applications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Essential Qualifications
• 5 plus years of experience designing and implementing software applications
• Experience working on enterprise level software projects
• Demonstrates knowledge of web applications, cybersecurity and open source technologies
• Experience developing software utilizing various coding languages including Java, C#, .Net, SQL, web
application development, and more
• SQL database design and development
• Outstanding collaboration and communication skills
• Experience with the Agile with SCRUM methodology
• Experience overseeing customized development of processes for multiple projects simultaneously
• Professional experience analyzing code for weaknesses and errors, and overseeing plans to improve them
• Experience designing secure software systems based upon industry-specific specifications
• Experience creating and following a standard software development lifecycle (SDLC)
Desirable Qualifications
• Insurance industry experience
• Experience with the OutSystems platform or other low-code equivalent

Physical Requirements

Physical requirements of this position typically include: sitting for long periods of time, reaching, grasping, kneeling, talking, hearing, seeing, repetitive motions, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move.

Special Requirements

Possession of a valid State of California Driver’s License issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, or the ability to obtain one within the first month of employment. Proof of auto insurance with no exclusion for business use is required.
