Contra Costa Risk Management Department is seeking a Deputy Director of Risk Management. Under the administrative-executive direction of the Director of Risk Management, the Deputy Director of Risk Management will plan, organize, coordinate, direct and administer operations related to financial activities and operations of various programs within the department. The Deputy Director of Risk Management reports directly to the County Director of Risk Management-Exempt and is responsible for fiscal administration of the departments' Internal Service Funds.
• Candidates must possess a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of state valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License will be accepted during the application process
• Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business or public administration, accounting, finance, risk management, insurance, or a closely related field.
• Experience: Five (5) years of full-time, professional level experience in risk management, managing self-insured trust funds, preferably with a public agency who is self-insured. At least two (2) years of which must have been in a management capacity.
• Substitution: Additional qualifying experience of the type noted above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two (2) years. No substitution is allowed for the management experience.
