Job Description:

The Liability and Property Insurance Analyst manage and performs specialized services in support of the administration of the liability and property insurance and related programs of the County's Risk Management office.

Requirements:

Duties include:

  • Assists in the planning, coordination and administration of the County's liability and property insurance program.
  • Assists in the development, interpretation, and maintenance of insurance coverages.
  • Monitors and reviews existing insurance contracts, rates and claims procedures to assure requirements and legal provisions are met and recommend revisions as needed.
  • Reviews insurance proposals and assists in the selection of the best insurance proposal, which provides the most cost-effective coverage
  • Assists departments in the review of contract and lease agreements to ensure appropriateness of insurance coverages and compliance with bid specifications and County policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates with involved County departments to ensure maintenance of an inventory of All County property and valuables for insurance purposes.

Knowledge of:

  •  Laws, legal decisions and regulations related to liability and property insurance administration
  • Principles and practices of insurance administration including risk analysis, loss prevention and insurance purchasing for general and financial liability protection
  • Principles of underwriting and indemnification
  • Effective accounting and statistical record keeping

Ability to:

  • Read, interpret, analyze and apply laws, ordinances and regulations governing liability and property insurance
  • Analyze loss trends in liability and property and prepare cost studies
  • Establish and document reserves for insurance programs, analyze and negotiate insurance
  • Organize work
  • Write clear and concise reports, letters, and procedures
  • Communicate verbally in a clear and concise manner
  • Work effectively and cooperatively with other department and agency representatives

Minimum Qualifications:

LIABILITY AND PROPERTY INSURANCE ANALYST (LEVEL I):

Either: Two years of full-time paid experience in underwriting property or liability insurance for commercial accounts,

Or: Two years of full-time paid experience providing technical support for claims administration, developing and/or administering insurance programs for a public or private risk management insurance office.

Note: If the word "experience" is referenced in the minimum qualifications, it means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable. Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements.

Special Requirements Note: The level at which initial appointment to the class of Liability and Property Insurance Analyst are made, and advancement from the lower to the higher level (Level I to Level II) is at the discretion of the appointing authority, providing the minimum qualifications are met. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods of time, ability to bend and stoop for brief periods.
