The County of Riverside's Department of Human Resources has an opportunity for a Senior Liability Claims Adjuster (Senior Claims Adjuster) to support the Risk Management Division in Riverside. This position will review, investigate, analyze, negotiate, and direct a diverse range of complex liability claims that are filed against the County and make determinations on disposition and resolution. The selected candidate will receive calls, answer questions from the public, and explain the claims process to a variety of stakeholders. The Senior Liability Claims Adjuster position requires exceptional customer service skills paired with confident, articulate, and professional writing, and oral presentation skills. Additionally, this position will require well developed skills in prioritizing, organization, decision making, time management, and strong writing abilities. Candidates must possess at least five years of substantial litigation experience, as well as extensive experience investigating general liability, premises liability, medical malpractice, property, and automobile liability claims. A bachelor's degree, professional certification, or a demonstrable commitment to continuous professional development, although not a requirement, will receive favorable consideration. Candidates with experience working directly for commercial insurance carriers or public entities are highly desired.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Five years of journey-level experience managing diverse range of complex liability claims which include reviewing and processing complex injuries, bodily injury, personal injury, medical malpractice, or property damage liability claims including identification and investigation of fraud cases and investigating, adjusting, and settling a wide variety of claims.
A bachelor's degree, professional certification, or a demonstrable commitment to continuous professional development, although not a requirement, will receive favorable consideration.
Candidates with experience working directly for commercial insurance carriers or public entities are highly desired.
Knowledge of: Rules, regulations, and laws regarding personal and property liability including, but not limited to, general provisions of California Vehicle Code, State and Federal Government Codes, laws and statutes and legal decisions pertaining to personal and property liability; Methods and techniques of subrogation recovery; Technical medical terminology related to the cause and treatment of physical injuries; Practices and procedures of insurance reserving, risk and experience analysis and statistical record keeping.
Ability to: Provide exceptional customer service to all stakeholders, provide high level summary of complex issues, gather and evaluate all information pertinent to liability claims and make appropriate recommendations; Establish and analyze all relevant data, effect necessary control plans, and bring all claims to equitable conclusion; Develop action plan necessary to implement recommendations with a minimum of guidance.
Other Requirements Possession of a valid Class "C" Driver's License is required. The incumbent may be required to use a personal vehicle and provide verification of auto insurance coverage as required by the County of Riverside.
