Course description:

The course consists of:

  • 1 Zoom guided discussion; 1:30 minutes
  • End-of-course exam

Guided discussion learning objectives:  

  • Explain crystalline silica
  • Explain respirable crystalline silica
  • Explain the hazards of respirable crystalline silica dust
  • Explain the term “8 hour time weighted average (TWA)” when monitoring airborne contaminants
  • Explain the term “Permissive Exposure Limit (PEL)” as it applies to employee exposure to an airborne contaminant
  • Review the Action Limit and PEL for respirable crystalline silica
  • Explain Hierarchy of Controls
  • Explain Specific Exposure Control Methods for respirable crystalline silica
  • Explain Alternative Control Methods required for employers not using Specified Exposure Control Methods
  • Explain control measures for concrete and masonry dust generating operations  

End-of-Course Exam: (optional)  

  • The end-of-course exam measures the students’ knowledge of the course learning objectives.
  • The exam consists of 20 true/false questions.  

Students who pass the exam with a score of 80% or higher will receive a certificate of completion.
