As a reminder, in April of this year, the Department of Industrial Relations adopted new codes specific to the COVID-19 pandemic in order for these claims to be easily identified. For claims involving exposures to or positive testing of the COVID-19 virus, ensure you are using the required codes:
- Cause: Code 83: Pandemic
- Nature: Code 83: COVID-19
- Body Part: Code 60: Lungs
For claims involving mental stress only as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, ensure you are coding claims filed as follows:
- Cause: Code 83: Pandemic
- Nature: Code 77: Mental Stress
- Body Part: Code 66: No Physical Injury
Please ensure all claims are coded correctly in order to provide accurate information to PRISM through monthly and/or annual member data reporting, as well as part of the FROI/SROI reporting requirements. You should also consider a mechanism for capturing whether the injured worker tested positive or negative for COVID-19.
