The Partner Alliance for Safer Schools (PASS) continues to expand its school safety resources with the release of its digitized School Safety and Security Checklists, interactive tools designed to help districts assess and strengthen campus safety at their own pace.
PASS, a nonprofit partnership of experts in education, public safety, and security, focuses on providing practical, nationwide best practices that support safer learning environments while balancing day-to-day operations.
The digitized checklists build on the PASS Safety and Security Guidelines by turning recommended practices into usable, step-by-step assessment tools. They allow school leaders, facilities teams, and risk managers to evaluate current conditions, identify gaps, and prioritize improvements across different areas of school safety.
The checklists include:
- District-wide and site-level security considerations
- Building and classroom safety measures
- Visitor management and access control practices
- Emergency communication and response systems
- Digital infrastructure and cybersecurity considerations
One of the key benefits of the digitized format is flexibility. Districts can work through the checklists over time, focus on specific areas, and align improvements with available resources and priorities.
School districts are encouraged to explore the PASS digitized checklists and consider how these best practices can support their overall safety planning efforts.
