Job Description:

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is currently seeking one full-time Animal Care Technician. Under general supervision, Animal Care Technicians assist in the daily maintenance, feeding and care of animals housed in the county's animal care facility including those subject to quarantine, injured or ill; assist with euthanizations; provide information to the public regarding lost or stray animals; assist with licensing, pet adoptions and community volunteer programs; and perform related work as assigned. This class is a working level class in the animal care series. Animal Care Services is a division of the Sheriff's Department. Animal Care Services provides services for the unincorporated areas of Yuba County and is located in Olivehurst, California. Animal Care Services care for lost animals, injured and abandon animals, and a provide variety of services that protect both citizens and animals. Most importantly, they keep lost pets safe and happy so they can be reunited with their owner or adopted into a new family.

Requirements:

Minimum: Equivalent to graduation from high school and any experience in the care and handling of animals. Preferred: In addition to the minimum requirements, additional experience in an animal care facility that required euthanasia. Possess a Registered Veterinary Technician License. Working Conditions: Work evenings, nights, weekends, holiday extended hours, and rotating shifts. Willingness to control and handle aggressive, ill, injured or dead animals in potentially hazardous situations. Special Requirements: Must successfully complete an extensive and through background investigation including a Miscellaneous Personal History Statement and Live Scan fingerprinting prior to hire. The ability to obtain a valid CA Class C driver's license within ten days of employment and must maintain throughout. Perform disaster services activities pursuant to Gov.
